IT IS

POSSIBLE

Society is facing a tremendous amount of challenges today which compromise the quality of our lives on many different levels, today and for generations to come.

But considering the seriousness of the situation, we see opportunities where others only see problems. Together with our clients, we search for creative solutions that benefit everyone involved.

What is a social business model?

Social businesses are companies that place their business

model at the service of society. In other words, they generate profits, hire people, sell products or services on the market and have to compete against competitors - just like

traditional commercial companies.

At the same time, however, they contribute to solving a major societal challenge that negatively affects people's quality of life or the natural state of the environment.

Social business models, i.e. those that serve the company and society at large, have traditionally been developed by start-ups and are established as the core business of this new company.

Social Business

The Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany, for example, already has a number of members that are

very successful with this model.

However, to implement social business models is by no means reserved for newly founded companies. On the contrary, even established companies can add one or more social business models to their core business, building on already established core competencies.

The new models complement the core business and become a new way for companies to create positive social impact and to take on social responsibility.

Social business models benefit the company just as much as society. Some of the advantages that arise for companies can be found here.

There are already a lot of companies that are very successful with their social business models.

The examples of Knärzje, Africa Greentec and Discovering Hands illustrate three of the many different approaches.

SOME GREAT EXAMPLES

KNÄRZJE

UNUSED RESSOURCE

The social business Knärzje replaces part of the malt in the brewing process of a new beer with unsold residual bread from organic bakeries.

In this way, the company produces a new high-quality product from unused resources and thus counteracts the problem of mass food waste.
